Kitaro is without doubt one of the pioneers of the new age music genre. In his early years he experimented with analogue synthesiszers and toured with a Japanese group that was influenced and mentored by the German synth band Tangerine Dream. He later left the band tp pursue a Solo Career producing his first albums in the late 70s. What launched kitaro into global recognaition was his series of composition entitkled The Silk Road which was accompanied by a well received Japanese TV series.
Throughout the 1980s Kitaro released many albums two of which featured weel know figures from the rock scene, Micky Hart, the percussionist from the Grateful Dead and Jon Anderson of progressive rock group yes and synth duo Jon and Vangelis.
